The Kickstand
Albuquerque Bike Trails
One of the most common customer questions we are asked at The Kickstand is where to ride, which routes are safe for casual riders and commuters, and where to get Albuquerque bike trail maps. Since our motto at The Kickstand is “celebrating the cycling lifestyle,” our employees are all experienced riders, and we love to help people explore Albuquerque on two wheels.
Albuquerque Bike Trails
The Kickstand has cases of Albuquerque bike trail maps published by the city, and we’re happy to provide them to riders who come to the store. But while you’re in front of a computer, check out the city of Albuquerque’s extensive Biking in Albuquerque page. It helps residents find the more than 400 miles of bike paths and bike trails in Albuquerque, including multiple-use trails closed to cars, bike lanes and bike boulevards with designated areas for bikes, and bike routes where cars and cyclists share the road. These maps can also help mountain bikers find off-road trails; look for the lines marked Foothills Open Space. During your visit to The Kickstand, consider picking up a Share the Road bumper sticker, which promotes more friendly interactions between riders and drivers.
Commuting in Albuquerque
Albuquerque bike paths crisscross the city. It’s definitely possible to get across town without a car, and depending on where you’re going, you may be able to do it with minimal contact with motor vehicles, by taking one of the car-free multiple-use trails. In fact, The Kickstand is not far from the Paseo de las Montanas trail, a separated multi-use trail that crosses both Menaul Boulevard and Juan Tabo Boulevard.
Cycling Events
If you’ve mastered the Albuquerque bike paths, we encourage you to explore some of the cycling groups and events the city has to offer. The Kickstand is proud to be a sponsor of the yearly Tour de Cure/Albuquerque Century, a ride benefiting the American Diabetes Association. Bike enthusiasts can also check out:
